Nah it's fine. Sometimes I realize we don't even know one another that well? And I'm not your actual doctor. If it's something I can help with you'll tell me.

I know, I get it, I really do. I'd stop altogether if it were voluntary. Let's just get back to where we can just complain about our shit and not make it more than that.

I trust you, Raine. Like, for real I do. And when I do an exam for science reasons I won't comment on anything irrelevant.

God, no, Raine I'm really fucking invested in your brother's situation. It's so deeply fucked up and I want to see what, if anything, I can do to help fix it. I love to fix things like this. We can solve it.

What I got shitty about was (and ok I'll only say this once and then you can just kind of pretend I never said it) you plucking off your scales.

The more eyes on it the more chances there are we can find a solution. I know I'm not the right kind of scientist but something's already better than nothing.

If you don't want me involved just say so, but I'm talking about it and bugging you about it because I want to. And I know more than the average person about how liminality fucks with a creature's creaturehood.

Hah! I promise none of my powers will magically absolve him.

[...] Alright, tell me the one thing and I'll let it go.

On a scale of 1–10, how would you rate your overall mood?

Answer this question first and then I'll tell you. What would you say are the contributing factors to your 8.5?

Aha. Noted.

I set a reminder to check on your status after a week. Admittedly, it's delayed a couple days because there was a breakthrough with my secret project, but even inconsistent data can be informative.

My project? Yes. Just in time, too. You'll get a hint soon.

It would be logical to wait until you see what I've done. But I won't say no if you want to appreciate me now.
