I had lunch with Parson Starling. It was illuminating. I want to crack his brain open. Figuratively.

I don't want to be friends with the man. I want to attach electrodes to his scalp and see what his brainwaves look like.

I haven't spoken to him yet. The lunch was [...] somewhat fraught. On the other hand, I'm certain he feels a tremendous amount of guilt and I could probably use that to my advantage.

I didn't warn him that I'd brought Crysta along. And then we more or less confirmed that he does have a remnant of my brother inside of him, affecting his actions and personality in unknown ways. Absolutely fascinating stuff.

You complained that I don't text you about science. You have to give me a reason to keep texting you.

If it didn't, that would be rather revealing, wouldn't it? They must have done tests on him to clear him for explorer duty. I wonder what they found. It's really too bad Medical is locked up so tight.

Or don't, I don't care. Your disapproval is still useful to me.

Astoundingly rude. Are you going to let him?

You're remarkably tolerant of the things I say. When you do bother to express disapproval, it's worth at least thinking twice about my course of action.

The annual exam is only concerned with health markers, while a geneticist like Isaiah could get an in-depth look into your DNA. Not that I'm advocating for you to give your blood to researchers with inappropriate boundaries.

Well, now you have to tell me.

That will probably be fine. Your physiological changes are quite incremental.

Interesting perspective. [...] I've thought about it, and Parson's guilt is far too potent to ignore. But it is risky. I'll save it until I've run out of other factors to exploit.

Fascinating. What's your theory?

Are you asking so you can warn him? I know you used to be friendly.

It's a worthy theory. There's definitely something unique about the Enodia rift compared to the others; it's pinning down what that's difficult. I wonder if other Liminals at the station have similar experiences.

[...] You can. I can't sense lies over texts. I suspect I actually need to see a person's face and/or hear their voice to have enough data to interpret.

Yes, it's one of your most appealing traits. [...] How is it going with the mole experiment?

I won't hold it against you. This power is useful, but not actually enjoyable.

Alas, we can't rush proper research. Riddle knows that, even if she doesn't like it. How much trouble can one mole cause, anyway?

Most people don't like me. I don't mind if they're honest about it. It's the pretending I can't stand.
