it's not THAT bad. probably. okay no it is kinda fucked up actually lmao okay first let me preface this by saying I owe you like minimum three beers and/or milkshakes for shouldering this much emotional weight but.
it felt important that YOU knew sooner rather than later that [...] as one of the many consequences of Gavin's death [...] I sort of have become a slamjam being experience his memories as my own, now. and it's worse when I'm around
ugh, the worst part is that half of me figured this wouldn't be a surprise. it's [...] a bit like a fever dream so far. sometimes bad, sometimes good, always looking for a distraction. anything I can do to help with the aforementioned mental state?
This is kind of a saga. [...] Sorry, just stick with me.
So my little brother is here now. Willy Cobb. I don't know if you've met him. He developed his liminal powers pretty recently and we're still kind of trying to figure out what they are and how they work. Which would usually not be a crisis or anything, except [...] he and his [...] girlfriend (?)[...] (?) got "stuck together" somehow. And now they're sharing [...] not a body exactly, but only one of them can exist at a time. And they can swap between the two of them, and the other one still exists in their shared mind somehow when they're not "out", but they can't really talk to each other. Which has been hard for them. So we're trying to think of a way to get them telepathically linked with each other. Not implying that using your powers on them would necessarily be a good option, but since you have some experience with it I thought I'd ask your opinion.
Also, Eden doesn't really want people to know about their condition. We've told Enoch, Isaiah, Jack and Annie [...] and a think a few of Eden's friends know too, but if you could keep it under wraps for the most part I'd appreciate it.
[...] Also you can feel free to just ignore this entire message if you want. I wouldn't hold it against you.
nah, wouldn't ignore this. what a mess that is. sorry they're both having to go through something so [...] lonely. I'll keep this one under wraps.
few ideas spring to mind, though.
first, I guess you'd need to figure out the nature of the consciousness that isn't "out". they're aware when they're in there, but are they perceivable? a more powerful psychic than me might be able to find that out, and knowing anything more about the state of the two minds would help a lot.
could use some mind-controlled prosthetic tech -- a speaker or a hand. see if they can't talk or write that way.
third option, I could try hitching them, although I don't know if it would take. if they can snap back and forth in under two minutes, I could open a link on one and hitch it to the other and we could see what that does for them. [...] the risk there is if you think their sharing powers could have greater consequences.
Thanks. [...] Yeah, it sucks. And he [...] tends not to talk to me about tough things. So there's not much I can do for him either.
These are all good ideas. Jack said he might be able to get a look deeper into their minds, but it could damage him if they split apart while he's telepathically linked to them. We don't know why or how that happens, so I've been putting it off.
Sharing their powers was my primary concern about hitching them. But it sounds like most options are going to have some level of risk involved. I think we should just let them know what their choices are and the risks associated with each and let them decide what they want to do.
you're doing your best though, man. that's a whole lot better than some.
I'm with you. any amount of stress can make psychic abilities do weird things in my experience, and this is some uniquely high stress. still, it's worth trying. whatever options they decide they're most comfortable with, if I can help out, I will.
if they want to try a hitching, some things to consider are whether their powers are ones they access willingly, are passive, or are uncontrolled. in my experience, uncontrolled powers tend to go off a little right away on the first hitch. weak stuff, but still.

Honestly besides distractions probably not. [...] There is one thing I wanted to pick your brain about, but it's not an emergency.

I'd welcome a brain picking from a non-Waldinger. what's on your mind?
